Dr. Matthew Groover

Dr. Matthew is originally from Statesboro, GA. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University and obtained his DVM at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been a veterinarian at Winterville Animal Clinic since 2010.
Dr. Matthew loves performing surgery, especially in the field of orthopedics. He has trained with Dr. Jonathan Chambers, a former orthopedic specialist from UGA, and is now a pro at even the most complicated orthopedic procedures. Dr. Matthew and his beautiful wife, Breanna, have five children. They also have several cats and dogs. Dr. Matthew enjoys mountain biking, fishing, wood working, and most anything outdoors. He is very active in his church. His favorite part of Winterville Animal Clinic is caring for clients' pets and the family atmosphere. |
Dr. Anna McQuaid

Dr. Anna has worked at Winterville Animal Clinic since 2015. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and received both her BS and DVM degrees from the University of Florida. Dr. Anna's love of veterinary medicine started at a young age with a passion for animals, both large and small. Her career began with 10 years of equine practice where she focused on equine anesthesiology and surgery. She later decided to extend her area of interest and began working with small animals with a focus on Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Anna is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. She practices integrative medicine, using a combination of Eastern and Western medicine therapies, including herbs and acupuncture to give her patients the best possible outcome.
Dr. Anna enjoys spending time with her kids and animals at her farm, riding horses, camping, and mountain biking. Dr. Anna has a strong faith. Her love for the Lord is evident through the kindness she shows to all those around her. She loves working at Winterville Animal Clinic because her fellow veterinarians her grow as a doctor. |
Dr. Angela Earick

Dr. Earick is originally from Massachusetts where she obtained her undergraduate degree from The University of Massachusetts - Amherst. She moved to Georgia and attended The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and obtained her DVM in 2009. Her passions in veterinary medicine include dentistry, internal medicine and geriatric medicine. She shares her home with her husband and their menagerie of animals that includes 4 dogs (2 of which are Bernese Mountain Dogs..her favorite breed) 4 cats (3 of which are orange..is there really any other color??) and their newest adventure - a large saltwater fish tank. In her off time, Dr. Earick enjoys reading (avid Stephen King fan!), gardening and traveling.

Dr. Hadley Seufert

Dr. Seufert grew up in Maryland and completed her undergraduate education at Vassar College in New York. She received her DVM from Tufts University in Massachusetts. While at Tufts, she developed a passion for community medicine, animal behavior, and preventative care. She spent much of her time involved with local outreach efforts, particularly those focused on youth education, and the on-campus spay and neuter clinic.
Outside of work, Dr. Seufert enjoys reading, knitting, and spending time with her wonderful fiance and their dog. Dr. Seufert loves the kindness of all of the team members at WAC and their willingness to go the extra mile for patients. |
Dr. Julie Gayer

Dr. Julie was born and raised in England. She met her American-born husband while he was a foreign exchange student in a college class in which they were both enrolled. Dr. Julie moved to the United States in 1992 and married her American sweetheart that same year.
Fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian, she attended veterinary school at the University of Georgia. She graduated with her DVM in 2002 and has been practicing in small animal medicine ever since. Dr. Julie has 3 beautiful children. The family has a revolving door of rescue animals including dogs and one cat who only has 3 legs. In their spare time, her family competes together in triathlons. They also enjoy recreational swimming, running, and bicycling. |
Dr. Jo Anne Mathias

Dr. Jo Anne Mathias was born and raised in Southern California. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology/Zoology with a minor in nutrition from California State University Long Beach. Dr. Mathias earned her DVM degree from the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. Her journey in veterinary medicine includes a passion for animal welfare and a commitment to excellence. She has been practicing in the Athens-Clarke and Oconee County area for over thirty years and joined Winterville Animal Clinic in 2022. Originally an equine practitioner, Dr. Mathias transitioned to a mixed animal practice early in her career. Working with such talented colleagues and having the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital close by helps Dr. Mathias stay at the forefront of veterinary medicine.
Dr. Mathias met her husband while at UGA and became enamored with the ways of the South. She has been blessed with two children, Jacob and Johanna, as well as two stepsons J.J. and Jeremy. Outside of WAC, Dr. Mathias enjoys spending time with her family and horses, gardening, cooking, reading, and when time allows, swimming. Dr. Mathias’ lifestyle reflects a lifelong commitment to serving her community through the care of animals (and their people) both professionally and personally. |
Dr. Amy Shiver

Dr. Shiver has been a part of the Winterville Animal Clinic family as a part-time relief veterinarian since 2001. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Georgia in 1993 and her DVM from the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. She has always had a love for animals and science, which is why she chose to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Shiver and her husband, Jud, have been married for 30 years and have four children. She loves working with the amazing staff at WAC and caring for the wonderful people and patients.
