Our veterinarians believe pets are family and want to offer your cats and dogs the best life as a part of your family and ours! Pets have different needs and care in each stage of their lives - puppies and kittens, teenagers, and seniors. We care for your cats and dogs in every stage of their lives in a loving, low stress, and fear-free environment.

How old is your dog or cat in "human years"?

Cats are considered "seniors" around age 10. Dogs are considered "seniors" around age 7. This can vary slightly depending on their breed.

Age is not a disease! Regular veterinarian wellness visits help detect diseases early that more commonly affect older cats and dogs. Healthy nutrition, habits, environment, and care help your pets have the best life as a part of your family and ours.

Physical Exam

To provide your pet the best standard of care, we recommend wellness visits once a year. As your pet reaches senior status, wellness visits every 6 months are very advantageous to detect health problems and concerns quickly and early. Ask our veterinarians at your next visit what they recommend.

Routine Blood Testing

Our veterinarians recommend routine blood testing for your pet throughout its life. Blood testing during the early years establishes healthy baseline values that are helpful as your pet ages. Routine blood work can help detect diseases that may not be "visible" as your pet ages - kidney and liver disease, infections, cancer, thyroid conditions, diabetes and heart conditions.

Prevention

Intestinal parasite prevention is important for every stage of a pet's life. It becomes more crucial as your pet ages. Our veterinarians will recommend the appropriate heartworm, flea and tick, and intestinal parasite prevention at your pet's wellness visits. These recommendations may change with age and health conditions.

Vaccinations

Updating your pet's vaccines regularly can help them stay healthy as their immune system weakens.

Nutrition

At your senior pet's wellness visit, your veterinarian will discuss your pet's nutrition recommendations and weight goals. Healthy nutrition also helps with mobility and preventing other diseases.
